Hinahina Kahakai
Hinahina Kahakai
One of the first native plants I could identify, other than naupaka. The pointy leaves form kinda of a rosette, the flowers as well.
Background Information
This endemc plant grows all over the coast and is common among other native beach plants. Hawaiians used the plant for lei making and tea. Today the plant is used for landscaping.
Hinahina Kahakai
Hinahina grow mostly as ground cover, but the stalk can grow up to 2 feet. The leaves are pointy, slim, and silver with some fuzz. The flowers are fragrant.
